Total global funding for fintechs soared from $125bn in 2020 to $210bn last year, with the number of deals rising from 3,674 to an all-time high of 5,684, the latest edition of the “Pulse of Fintech” report published by KPMG shows.
Takeaway:
Payments accounted for 24.6% of the total fintech funding in 2021, registering a 77.6% increase in financing, from $29.1bn to $51.7bn, the report said, adding that financing of blockchain and crypto firms jumped 449% – from $5.5bn to $30.2bn in 2021.
