News Digest: Private equity secondaries deals likely to reach $100bn milestone
January 3, 2022
Total transaction volume in the private equity secondaries market is likely to reach at least $100bn in 2021, representing a high-water mark for the sector, according to investors and intermediaries.
The news comes on the back of secondaries deals worth almost $79bn already having been declared in the nine months ended September, as per Triago.
The ongoing boom in the market for second-hand stakes in private assets reflects the growing trend of institutional investors, or LPs, tapping this channel to boost liquidity in their buyout portfolios and rejig asset allocation, as their risk profiles and return expectations evolve.
